Occlude
A downloadable game for Windows
You thought you knew the rules. You don't.

Have you ever done something you regret? What if I told you there was a way to fix it? Make it so that something never happened at all; or perhaps, just happened differently. What if I told you it was as simple as a game of solitaire?
What if I told you that the game’s name was Occlude?

The game’s not simple. The rules are hidden, and you find them by playing and experimenting. Make sure you have some coins - the coins will show when you’re on the right path. There are seven Rituals, each their own puzzle, increasing in difficulty.
There are seven Entities, and they know you’re playing. Don’t worry about them. Worrying doesn’t do anything. I shouldn’t have mentioned them at all.
Occlude is an occult game of solitaire stuffed with secrets. Piece together the rules even as they resist your attempts to decipher them.
Uncover the brain-melting story behind the game that was never a game as you chip away at reality one card at a time. Develop your mastery of each Ritual to gain access to even deeper, forbidden lore in the Archives.
- Solitaire: but not as you know it.
- Seven rituals: unlock increasingly complex card puzzles with unique hidden rulesets.
- Reality-bending narrative: uncover a cosmic horror story about a world broken by countless attempts to fix it.
- Atmospheric sound design: immersive audio cues that shift based on your closeness to solving each puzzle.
- Secret documents: discover fragments of forbidden texts that provide clues about Occlude's origins.
- Terrible secrets: for those foolish enough to look for them.

Picking up Occlude and leaving a review is honestly all the support we could ever want. Despite this, a few lovely people over the years have asked us "what can I do to support the studio even more?"
To those very kind people, we're proud to offer Occlude: The Eschaton Edition. This "Support The Devs" style bundle gives you the full game and:
- The Occlude Original Soundtrack, by Ed Sibley, featuring 28 minutes of in-game music.
- An bonus Archive Document as a printable, high-definition PDF, to further fuel your conspiracies and theories.
- The genuine gratitude of a small team with big ambitions.

Hm… looks like the Itch.io upload now has Steam DRM, which of course then fails to launch because I have “no licenses” there.
I'm also running into this issue. Was looking forward to playing but can't even open the game.
This is fixed now - apologies for the issue here.
Thank you! works like a charm, now!
What a beautiful game I would love to get into, especially after my recurring love affair with Cultist Simulator.
You know… when you have the code to a thing, it isn’t that hard to compile it for linux and/or web…
Impressive presentation 👌 The unique take on solitaire with occult-inspired art is very creative. Excited to see how this grows

I would also love a MacOS version if possible!
I’ve beat the story mode. Fun gameplay, intriguing story!
It confused me at first as someone only familiar with Klondike variant. Not only the hidden rules, but the visible ones, too. But the game became so fun after getting customized with the visible rules.
Reading the story was enjoying. I have been unlocking all the endings to read them all.
I failed to understand most of the hidden ruled. I played by trial-and-error instead.
Picked this up after seeing katbamkapow stream it! So far I've played 2-3 sessions and "completed" 4 of the modes, but I'm excited/hopeful there's deeper to go!
Oh that rabbit hole is deeper than you think. Thanks for picking up the game -- hope you continue to enjoy!

I'm not super far into it (just beat a couple rounds), but I am loving this game. Thanks for making it!

wonderful game
Hey, this game looks really interesting!
Is the version on itch the same as the steam version and does the purchase come with a steam key? I'd rather buy here to support devs better, since steam takes 30% share. Also with the lack of a native linux build, having it on steam to play via proton would be better for me.
Hi there! The Steam and Itch versions are identical, yes.
Appreciate your want to support here - we'll gladly supply a Steam key with your purchase. Please email support[at]pantaloon[dot]io with your order number and we'll furnish you with the key.
Thanks!

Agreed, I'm happy to do the same.

If it helps anything, you can install Lutris from Flathub* and then add the .exe of this game to Lutris. You should be able to select a Wine version from there as well. If you want/need Proton versions, install ProtonUp from Flathub*; run ProtonUp, install a Proton version for Lutris, and THEN open Lutris and change the game's settings to use that Proton version. But yeah, it's still nice to have the recognition with a native Linux version 😞
* = On Steam Deck you need to go to the desktop mode first. From there you have KDE, like with any other Linux with KDE, you can run Discover which is its app store and install Lutris and/or ProtonUp from there.
I hope this helps, if not LMK and let's figure it out together!

The developer answered above: the Itch and Steam versions are identical and you can get a Steam key if you purchase here. Proton works well for now on Linux, but a native version would be amazing!
